Parfums de Marly Godolphin Eau de Parfum was launched in 2010 and composed by perfumer Michele Saramito. This opulent leather fragrance pays homage to the Godolphin Arabian, one of the three founding stallions of modern thoroughbred racing. With a structure that marries classic masculine notes and floral refinement, Godolphin is bold, polished, and commanding—ideal for those drawn to the elegance of tradition fused with contemporary luxury.
The fragrance opens with a spicy, aromatic trio of thyme, saffron, and cypress. These top notes immediately set a rich and assertive tone: thyme brings herbal depth, saffron adds exotic warmth and brightness, and cypress contributes a green, slightly smoky edge that hints at what's to come. The result is a vivid and captivating introduction.
At the heart, a bouquet of rose, iris, and jasmine takes center stage. These florals soften the intensity of the opening with velvety, powdery elegance. The rose is refined and regal, iris brings a smooth, almost buttery texture, and jasmine injects subtle radiance. This floral layer bridges the herbal top and the leather-heavy base with grace and balance.
The base is where Godolphin fully unfurls its signature leather accord, enriched with amber, vetiver, white cedarwood, musk, and vanilla. The leather is soft yet bold, luxurious and warm rather than rugged. Amber and vanilla lend sweetness and smoothness, while vetiver and cedarwood provide a dry, earthy foundation. Musk enhances the sensual quality, leaving a deep, lasting impression.
